Semiconductor Spin Qubits for Quantum Networking w/ Akira Oiwa

Semiconductor spin qubits are well recognized as a promising platform for scalable fault-tolerant quantum computers (FTQCs) because of relatively long spin coherence time in solid state devices and high-electrical tuneability of the quantum states [1]. In addition, semiconductors have a great potential for applications in quantum communications because of their abilities in optical devices. Therefore, especially in quantum repeater applications, the semiconductor spin qubits provide a route to efficiently connect qubit modules or quantum computers via optical fibers and construct global quantum networks, contributing to realize secure quantum communications and distributed quantum computing [2]. In this talk, we present the physical process enabling the quantum state conversion from single photon polarization states to single electron spin states in gate-defined quantum dots (QDs) and its experimental demonstration [3]. As recent significant achievements, we discuss that the enhancement of the conversion efficiency from a single photon to a single spin in a quantum dot using photonic nanostructures [4]. Finally, we present a perspective of high conversion efficiency quantum repeater operating directly at a telecom wavelength based on semiconductor spin qubits.

    WAGing... but: since the square root of 4 isn't really 2... it's 2 OR -2 <- maybe this has something to do with it? Perhaps nature has some way of knowing that some 4s were "born" from 2*2 and other 4s were "born" from -2*-2 OR perhaps put another way, it has some way of "expecting" or "preferring" that a sqr(4) to be either the + or - option, and the complex stuff is there "accounting" for the negative possibilities. ( I know this is v.possibly not even wrong ;-) but here it is anyway, a post on youtube )

    So I have a theory in time traveling where after you go back, the plot at the time that you traveled will reset to it's original state so even if you kill your grandfather before he met his wife, it will not change anything because if you go back to the present time, the time that you go back into will reset to it's original state.

    Your books are ABSOLUTELY amazing. We have been reading it to our 2 and a half year old daughter since 6 months of age. She knows hippos, rhinos, warthogs and a myriad of numbers and her alphabet. She does, however, also know about balls, atoms, nucleus, valence electrons and the periodic table - and I'm not joking. She loves the periodic table because of the various numbers, and she is busy learning the phonetic alphabet, therefore she can now apply her alphabet skills to "read" words like ball and baby. She also understands hypothetical dummies orbiting the earth, lol, and recognises that she lives on planet earth. The stars and carbons in the Astrophysics book also really excites her. She counts the suns, carbons and valence electrons without fail. As we aren't religious we appreciate the analogy of being created from stars, and forming part of this cycle. PS - we are from South Africa, and our baby is certainly enjoying the concepts and books, so don't underestimate the value in small children. She may not be an astrophysicist one day, but she will certainly carry essential knowledge into her school career and adult life.

    There's a reaction to the Enzyme reaction initiator, are you actors or a nuclear reactor always reacting?     You have mentioned about Topological Quantum computer to aid for that research, I think you said there's no such thing for now, maybe because in topology for example a figure formed like a rubber band or string which is invariant cannot be broken down but can be changed to other forms and because there's a variety of states like the dual figure of 8 that's why an idea of braiding according to you is a possibility idea. And that figure of 8 can't be changed because it's dual states aside from being entangled but going different ways in its pathway strings and could be fixed 8 as superiorly coded by High Spiritual beings. Then what if that's a fixed figure of 8 strings maybe another method is like a rubber band fold the 8 string loop over each other. Then what's the interaction? 2 fat buddies chatting? ( Joke )

    Braiding of quantum states which creates quantum bits particles, that braiding of hair I noticed in pretty females of China and also the Kung- Fu masters saying wanna try my Kung- fu, Pay the token first ( joke ), seriously if we can braid the quantum states then how's the interaction? Would there be transmission to receptors or energy key to receptors or portals to the 3 to 8 knock combinations or quantum states tourism like braided states that if I cannot find my bride here I find there. Just exploring possibilities.

    @ 2:21 Mr Milonni isn't very well informed about what's published in the physics-community. 7 Years before this video was uploaded (in 2005) Mr Jaffe (from MIT) showed that the Casimir-effect can be FULLY EXPLAINED by classical physics. Bye Mr Milonni.

    No primers on double slit ever mention gravity which left a major question for me. Why wouldn't gravity, which travels at c and has infinite range, cause decoherence with all massive particles ? Or just any particles since e=mc2.
